A walking safari in unexplored northern Kenya with Samburu warrior guides, spectacular views over the Laikipia Plateau and Great Rift Valley, explore mountains which are home to elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard and rare African wild dog.
Arrive-Nairobi Heron Court Hotel (BB)
Day 1. Upon arrival at the airport you will be received by our representative who will then transfer you to the hotel.
Marlal-Samburu Leroghi Mountains Base Camp (FB)
Day 2. Depart after breakfast drive northern frontier district of Samburu where you’ll be met upon arrival to our first camp in a forested glade at the foot of the Leroghi Mountains.

Day 3. Walking safari begins Meet your local Samburu warrior guides. The walking safari begins with a gentle traverse through the Bawa valley, passing clear streams and waterfalls en route to a camp in the heart of the forest.
Leroghi mountains Tilia Rock Camp (FB)
Day 4. Walking safari – Tilia Rock The walking safari continues through beautiful forested glades, where sightings of buffalo are common. Tonight’s camp, at Tilia Rock, is perched on the edge of the escarpment with incredible views to the Mathews and Ndoto Mountains.
Leroghi mountains El Bogoi Valley Camp (FB)
Day 5. Walking safari – El Bogoi Valley Descend into the beautiful El Bogoi Valley, arriving in camp in the late afternoon. Enjoy a cooling swim in the stream, which meanders through tall trees, forming a series of small natural rock swimming pools.
Leroghi mountains Neumann’s Camp (FB)
Day 6. Walking safari - Explore the El Bogoi Valley Pass the site of the explorer Neumann’s favorite hunting camp and visit a remote Samburu tribal manyatta (traditional homestead). We explore a series of green “luggas” (seasonal river beds). These are excellent for sightings of birds and monkeys and if we are lucky, the rare Greater Kudu. Elephants are frequently sighted in the surrounding acacia woodland.
Leroghi mountains Naibolo Rock Camp (FB)
Day7. Walking safari – Naibolo Rock Our walking safari continues among stands of pink-canopied Cape Chestnut trees, returning to the pristine high altitude montane forest to Naibolo Rock, a stunning camp with incredible views westward over the plains of the Laikipia plateau to Lake Kisima and the dramatic conical hill of Naibor Keju. Mountain reedbuck, elephant and buffalo may be seen grazing the surrounding forest glades.
Samburu G/ Reserve Samburu Sopa Lodge (FB)
Day8 Our walking safari ends with a gentle descent back to the Bawa valley. We then transfer across beautiful plains to Samburu game reserve, where you will spend in a lodge. Samburu is home to superb wildlife populations including large number of elephant and rare African wild dog and cheetah. Here, you will enjoy very different scenery and wildlife is more readily sighted due to the open and gently undulating terrain.
Lake Nakuru N/P Lake Nakuru Lodge (FB)
Day 9 . After an early breakfast check out and depart for Lake Nakuru National Park. Stopover at Thomson Falls, Nyahururu for viewing of the waterfall. Arrive in time for lunch at Lake Nakuru Lodge. After lunch, proceed on an afternoon game drive in the park fame for its abundance of birdlife including millions of flamingoes, rhino and scenic landscape. You return to your lodge late in the evening. Dinner and overnight at Lake Nakuru Lodge
Masai Mara G/Re OL-Moran Tented Camp (FB)
Day 10 & 11. Depart to Masai Mara G/Re after breakfast; this is where you will enjoy the herd of animals and the amazing way they co-exist amongst each other. Get here by lunch time, after you refresh, have lunch relax as you wait to start the afternoon game drive in this great game reserve declared a “world wonder” by UNESCO due to the great wildebeest migration spectacle in the Mara-Serengeti eco-system. Get a closer look of the animal on the plains, with their endless vistas and enormous herds of grazing animals, look for the predators hidden in bushes or long grass i.e. lion, Cheetah and Leopard. There are hippos in the rivers and exotic birds everywhere. Dinner and overnight.
Masai Mara G/Re Departure
Day12 . Optional early morning balloon safari and bush breakfast. Later depart to Nairobi to arrive late afternoon. Farewell dinner then transfer to the airport for departure.
