Hiking and exploring in the Loita Hills notable for the variety of its sceneries, this ranges from rolling hills and dramatic escarpments to expansive plains of open savanna country. Experience the subtle sounds of the African bush on foot where you smell the fresh aroma of the morning grass on the plains or wander through a mountain valley and beautiful sceneries. Our local tribal guides with intimate knowledge of their surrounding accompany us to ensure we miss nothing. We visit colorful areas of the Maasai villages and get a chance to observe their traditional ways of life. Hike westward, crossing the expanses of the Great Rift Valley, heading up into the 8,000-foot-high Loita hills.

The Itinerary

Arrive-Nairobi Masai Safari Lodge (BB).

Day 1. Upon arrival at the airport you will be received by our representative who will then transfer you to the hotel.

Masai Mara G/Re Ilariak Eco-lodge (FB).

Day2. Depart to Masai Mara G/Re after breakfast, driving across the Rift Valley expansive floor. Get here by lunch time check in at the Eco-lodge located within the Maasai community after you refresh, have lunch relax as you wait to start the afternoon game drives. Drive into the park for afternoon game drives, this is where you will enjoy the herd of animals and the amazing way they co-exist amongst each other. Get a closer look of the animal on the plains, with their endless vistas and enormous herds of grazing animals, look for the predators hidden in bushes or long grass i.e. lion, Cheetah and Leopard.

There are hippos in the rivers , exotic birds , prides of black-maned lions , herds of elephants to the insouciant crocodiles lying in wait of prey. Return late afternoon to the camp for dinner, Maasai folk tales, history and culture talk by a maasai elder round a bon fire. Overnight.

Masai Mara G/Re Ilariak Eco-lodge (FB).

Day3. Optional early morning balloon safari and bush breakfast. Extensive game drives game drives and this great game reserve declared a “world wonder” by UNESCO due to the great wildebeest migration spectacle in the Mara-Serengeti eco-system. Few places on earth can rival the setting of Mara game reserve vast savannah grasslands and huge concentration of wildlife.

Return to the camp for late lunch. After noon guided walking safari in this world famous reserve the northern extension of the sprawling Serengeti of Tanzania and the two ecosystems make for the greatest wildlife spectacle on the planet – from the million or more wildebeest migrating with changing seasons between the Mara and the Serengeti to the flocks of birds from Eurasia. Visit a Maasai village for cultural dance and immersion. Return late by sunset to your camp. Dinner and overnight.

Mara Conservancy Ndarara Camp (FB).

Day 4: Depart Masai Mara after breakfast. Masailand is the home of huge herds of plains game. Our route then takes us up to the trading town of Narok where you stopover for 30 minutes before heading South and winding up into the forested Loita Hills close to the Tanzanian border. You will be dropped at Maji Moto (Kiswahili means hot waters) where a hot spring bubbles out of the earth at the foot of the hills. A relaxing bath is a must as you visit Ndarara Mayatta for lunch. Late in the evening reach Ndarara Camp for Dinner and overnight.

Ndarara Letukunyi Camp (FB).

Day 5: After breakfast leave Ndarara for Letukunyi, taking you about 5-6 hours walk through the
scattered bushes and exploring the beautiful Loita Hills in the Nguruman Escarpment through the forests where you see striking black and white colombus Monkeys. Occasionally we may see leopard or bushbuck as you visit various secret waterholes. There are also a variety of highland birds to view, such as the turaco, parrot, hornbill, starling, sunbird and the birds of prey. Dinner and overnight at Letukunyi Camp.

Letukunyi Morinjo Campsite (FB).

Day 6: Leave Letukunyi Camp early in the morning for an enjoyable walk before the sun is too hot . Pass through Narosura for lunch or to buy what might be out of stock (VEGETABLES). After an hour or two in this remote town in Maasai land, proceed to Morijo for dinner and overnight at Morijo Campsite.

Morinjo Enkutoto Camp (FB).

Day 7: After breakfast, leave Morijo and walk through the forest, few of the remaining true-forested wilderness area in East Africa. The walk will take 5-6 hours across the rolling highlands up to O supuko, the summit of the Loita Hills (8,660 ft.), with incredible views, before descending to the Camp. This is a favorite roost for velvet monkeys. Walk through the forests and glades in search of bohor reedbuck, East African Eland, Warthog, and the striking black and white Colombus Monkeys. Occasionally we may see Bushbuck as we walk to Enkutoto Campsite.

Enkutoto Njoroi Camp (FB).

Day 8: After breakfast, leave Enkutoto, walking leisurely for 4-5 hours to Njoroi Campsite for dinner and overnight. In the camp enjoy an excellent view of the surrounding area such as Lake Magadi, Ngong hills, Lake Natron and all the way to Tanzania border on a clear day. Dinner and overnight at the Njoroi Campsite.

Njoroi/Nguruman Ereto Camp (FB).

Day 9-11: After breakfast, descend the Escarpment through small farms to Nguruman town and on to Ereto Community development- Empowerment of Women and Children through education and income generating activities. Participate in the women’s group Posho Mill & Nursery school project. Provide books and construction materials as well as participating in the construction of a kitchen. Late afternoon cultural immersions among the community.

Njoroi/Nguruman Nairobi - Departure.

Day 12 After breakfast bid farewell to the community and transfer back to Nairobi via Lake Magadi. Ololgesalie prehistoric site which is 40 Km from Nairobi where the Leakey Family discovered axes and tools thought to have been discovered. Proceed to arrive in the afternoon. City tours, shopping later farewell dinner at the Carnivore Restaurant before been transferred to the airport for departure.
