East Africa continues to draw visitors to Well known famous Great Migration of the wildebeest, an annual event that takes place between July and September each year in the Maasai Mara National Park. Hundreds of antelopes and zebras trek over a thousand kilometers from Northern Tanzania into Kenya in search of water and new grazing lands. These herbivores are followed in their journey by the predators (lions, jackals and hyena) that pick off the weak and infirm for a meal. This event is considered to be one of the greatest spectacles in the animal kingdom and is a sight never to be forgotten.

The Itinerary

Day 1.
Arrive this morning or in the evening in the city of Nairobi and transfer to the Hotel. Overnight at the Hotel.

Masai Mara G/Re                       Ashnil Mara Tented Camp (FB)

Day 2-5. Depart to Masai Mara G/Re after breakfast, this is where you will have 8 days to enjoy the herd of wildlife, species of birds and people and the amazing way they co-exist amongst each other. Get here by lunch time, after you refresh, have lunch relax as you wait to start the afternoon game drive.
Game drives will have an option dawn game drives, this is meant to provide more time in photography. Accommodation in Masai Mara have been arranged to be in vicinity of the Mara River crossing points and the movement of the migration at vantage locations.

The Maasai Mara is world famous for big game, endless plains of Mara-Serengeti eco-system are the setting for the world’s greatest wildlife spectacle - the 1.5 million animal ungulate (wildebeest) migration. From the vast Serengeti plains to the champagne colored hills of Kenya’s Masai Mara over 1.4 million wildebeest and 200,000 zebra and gazelle, relentlessly tracked by Africa’s great predators, migrate in a clockwise fashion over 1,800 miles each year in search of rain ripened grass.

There is no real beginning or end to a wildebeest's journey. Its life is an endless pilgrimage, a constant search for food and water. The only beginning is at the moment of birth. Estimated 400,000 wildebeest calves are born during a six week period early each year.
Attracted by those huge herds, are the predators; Lion, Leopard, Cheetah, hyena and various species of wild dogs.

Day6. After an early breakfast check out and depart for Lake Nakuru National Park. Stopover at Nairegea-Enkare to view the expansive Rift Valley floor and escarpments. Arrive in time for lunch at the lodge. After lunch, proceed on an afternoon game drive in the park fame for its abundance of birdlife including millions of flamingoes, rhino and scenic landscape. You return to your lodge late in the evening. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day7. Depart after early breakfast to Amboseli N/P at the foot of Mt. Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest mountain with a stop-over in Nairobi for hot/ packed lunch. Proceed to enter the park in the afternoon game drives around the water springs from Mt. Kilimanjaro. The snows of the mountain forms a majestic backdrop to one of Kenya's most popular spectacular displays of wildlife - lion, elephant, leopard, cheetah, buffalo and host of plains game, creating Kenya's most sought after photographer's paradise.

Day 8. Dawn game drives before breakfast later check out and depart to Lake Manyara. After crossing the Kenya / Tanzania border and about 1 hour driver you will stop in Arusha for hot/ picnic lunch. Proceed to enter the park late afternoon the park is home to plenty of game and birdlife. Lake Manyara National Park, famous for its tree climbing lions and large flocks of flamingoes. This beautiful park is at the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment and comprises of forest, woodland, grasslands, and swamps. Gazelles, impala, buffalo, wildebeest, the famous tree climbing lion, hyena, baboon, giraffe, hippopotamus, and a great number of smaller mammals,350 species of bird, storks and flamingoes. The park contains five distinct vegetation zones and is of scenic beauty Dinner and overnight at lodge.

Serengeti N/P                              Lobo Wildlife Lodge (FB)

Day 9. Dawn game drives in Lake Manyara before breakfast. Later depart to Serengeti via Ngorongoro with picnic lunch with a brief stop at Olduvai Gorge the Historical Site, Picnic lunch and later proceed with extensive game drives and sight seeing arriving in central Serengeti for late afternoon. Dinner and overnight.

Day 10. Full day in Serengeti with early morning and late afternoon game drives in the vast Serengeti plain. The term Serengeti means endless plains in Maasai language. In the central plains there are carnivores like leopard, lion, hyena and cheetah. This park is normally the scene of the annual migration of wildebeest and zebra that occurs between the Kenyan Mara and the Serengeti. Varied bird species can be seen here including eagles, ducks, geese, egrets, vultures, secretary birds, ibis, stork, herons, kites, pelicans, cranes and guinea fowl. Dinner and overnight

Ngorongoro Crater N/P               Ngorongoro Wildlife Lodge (FB)

Day 11. Depart to Ngorongoro Conservation Area after breakfast game drives en route to arrive at the lodge in time for lunch. After lunch descend to the crater floor for game drives at this animal paradise a world wonder. Various animals co-exist inside this broken caldera which also has distinct vegetation zones. It is the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera and a natural sanctuary for the dense population of animals which inhabit it. It is one of the few places where the rare black rhino can be observed in their natural setting. As very few animals migrate in and out of the crater with its 2000 ft. high walls, you can expect to see lions, elephants, zebras, hippos, flamingos, jackals, rhinos, antelopes, many birds and myriad other species. With a bit of luck the ‘Big Five’ can be spotted on just one single game drive.
Return late afternoon to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Arusha -Nairobi                            Departure

Day 12.Check out and depart to Arusha arriving in time for lunch after lunch you will be transferred to the shuttle for a drive to Nairobi. Farewell dinner at Carnivore Restaurant later transfer to the airport for departure.
