10 Days Wild Southern Tanzania Family Safari.

Nairobi/ Dar es Salaam / Selous G.Re/ Ruaha N.P and Zanzibar Island
Africa has a lot to offer families, but it's important to visit places that actively welcome children, rather than simply accept them. Africa isn't ideal for babies or very small children, who should avoid areas with malaria. However for interested children, who are old enough to understand what they see, Africa can be an amazing and inspiring place. Private houses and villas can be ideal for families. In recent years, we've seen more families travelling together, and a rise in small groups of like-minded friends sharing a trip.

These are distinctive of Miombo woodlands, and the bird life sustained by Rufiji swamplands is of meticulous interest. Day 3. Whole day Game drive in the Selous Game Reserve. Discovery of the Reserve by 4 wheel drive vehicle. The Selous Game Reserve is the biggest in Africa, jacketing 54,600 square kilometer. The reserve acquires its name from the hunter and explorer Frederick Courtney Selous. He was murdered here during World War 1. Selous is well-known for elephants. Other species generally seen are lions, buffaloes, wild dogs, elands, baboons, bushbuck, impalas, zebras and greater kudus. It was initially set aside as a hunting area where animals are plentiful but more introvert then the Northern Parks. Excursions by 4x4 vehicles will permit you to have excellent photographic chance and the probability to explore diverse sections of enormous park.

Ruaha N/P Ruaha River (FB)

Day4 & 5. After breakfast check out and drive to Ruaha N/P to arrive in time for lunch. Second only to Katavi in its aura of untrammeled wilderness, but far more accessible, Ruaha protects a vast tract of the rugged, semi-arid bush country that characterizes central Tanzania. Its lifeblood is the Great Ruaha River.Beneath bulbous baobab trees, a few representatives of Ruaha's 10,000 elephants - the largest population of any East African national park, form a protective huddle around their young. During the dry season, impala, waterbuck and other antelopes risk their life for a sip of life-sustaining water. And the risk is considerable: not only from the prides of 20-plus lion that lord over the savannah, but also from the cheetahs that stalk the open grassland and the leopards that lurk in tangled riverine thickets. This impressive array of large predators is boosted by both striped and spotted hyena, as well as several conspicuous packs of the highly endangered African wild dog.
